Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our services.

Our Services

What exactly is RV tank cleaning?
We use professional-grade equipment to hydrojet and flush your black and grey holding tanks on-site at your campground or resort. We remove built-up waste, residue, and odor-causing bacteria that regular dumping and flushing leaves behind.
What is hydrojetting?
Hydrojetting is a powerful cleaning method that uses high-pressure water jets to break up and flush out waste and buildup from your tanks. It’s more effective than traditional methods and helps restore proper drainage and reduce odors.
Is the cleaning process safe for my RV's plumbing and sensors?
Yes, our hydrojetting equipment is designed to be safe for RV plumbing systems and sensors. We use the appropriate pressure settings to ensure a thorough clean without causing damage.
How often should I have my RV tanks cleaned?
For full-timers and frequent travelers we recommend annual cleanings. For seasonal campers, once every year or two is usually sufficient. If you’re noticing persistent odors or slow drainage, that’s a sign it’s time.
How long does a cleaning take?
A typical tank cleaning session takes 1.5-2 hours depending on number of tanks tank sizes and conditions. We’ll give you a more accurate estimate when you schedule.
What other services do you offer?
In addition to our tank cleaning service, we offer fresh water system sanitizing, water heater flushing, seasonal winterizing/dewinterizing, clog remediation, and consultations on tank maintenance and products. Visit our Services page for full details.

Scheduling & Logistics

Do you require a deposit to book a service?
We do not require a deposit to book, but we do recommend scheduling in advance to secure your preferred date and time. Our schedule can fill up quickly, especially during peak seasons. You can use our schedule form to check availability and book your service.
Do I need to be present during the service?

We prefer you to be nearby in case we have questions, but you don’t need to watch over our shoulder. As long as we have access to your hookups (water, electric, and sewer) we can get the job done.

Customers are always welcome to watch and learn about the process, ask questions, and get tips on tank maintenance. But if you want to relax while we work, that’s perfectly fine too.

What do you need at my site to perform the service?
We need access to a water connection, an electrical outlet (standard 15/20A is usually fine), and a sewer hookup.
Can you peform cleaning service at a dump station?
Dump stations are not ideal for our equipment and process. Most often dump stations don’t have the necessary electric hookups we need. Additionally, the time it takes to perform a thorough cleaning is not compatible with the typical use of a dump station.
Can you service my RV if I'm boondocking or dry camping?
Unfortunately, we require access to water and sewer hookups to perform our services. If you’re boondocking, we recommend scheduling a cleaning for when you return to a campground or RV park with the necessary hookups.
Do you service all types of RVs and trailers?

We service a wide range of RV types including motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels. There are some exceptions that we cannot perform our hydrojetting service on due to their unique plumbing configurations. These include:

  • Newmar motorhomes with macerator in the wet bay
  • Jayco Seneca/Entegra Accolade Super C motorhomes
  • Keystone RV’s

Our experience with these models has shown that our hydrojetting equipment is not compatible with their plumbing systems, and attempting to service them could cause damage to our equipment or your RV.

If you have one of these models, we can still provide a tank cleaning service using a detergent flush method that is safe for your plumbing and helps with odors and waste buildup. Contact us to discuss your specific RV and schedule a cleaning.

How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least a few days ahead, especially during busy rally seasons. Check our locations page to see when we’re in your area and use the schedule form to confirm our availability.
Do you come to me, or do I need to drive somewhere?
We come to you. We’re a fully mobile service and operate at your campground or RV resort. There’s no need to move your RV.

Payment Methods

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, check, credit and debit cards, Venmo, and Apple Pay. Payment is due at time of service completion.
Do you charge credit card fees?
No, we do not charge any additional fees for credit or debit card payments. The price you see is the price you pay.
Do you offer discounts or promotions?
We occasionally offer seasonal promotions and discounts for repeat customers. Follow us on social media or sign up for our newsletter to stay informed about any special offers.
Can I get a receipt or invoice?

Yes, we provide a digital receipt at the time of payment. If you need an invoice for your records, just let us know and we can email one to you.

In addition we provide a detailed service report that outlines the work performed, any issues we found, and recommendations for maintenance going forward. This report is included with your service and can be used for your records.

Satisfaction & Results

What if I'm not happy with the results?
We stand behind our work with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you’re not happy, tell us before we leave and we’ll make it right. Your tanks should be noticeably cleaner and fresher — if they’re not, we want to know.
Will one cleaning fix persistent odors?
In most cases, yes — a professional cleaning and flush removes the waste buildup that causes odors. For severe or long-standing issues it may take a follow-up treatment and a good tank maintenance routine. We’ll be honest with you about what to expect and provide guidance on how to keep your tanks fresh.
Will my sensors work better after a cleaning?
Yes, often a thorough cleaning can help restore sensor function by removing residue and buildup that interferes with their readings. However, if your sensors are old or damaged, they may still need replacement.
Can you unclog a blocked tank or toilet?
Yes — clog remediation is one of our services. If you have a backed-up toilet or a tank that won’t drain, contact us and we can help you resolve the problem. If we’re not in your area, we can provide guidance on how to address the issue until we can get there, or recommend a local service if it’s an emergency.
Can I leave feedback or reviews?
Absolutely! We love hearing from our customers. You can leave a review on our feedback page or share your experience on social media (we are @thefreshtankco on most social platforms). Your feedback helps us improve and helps other RVers make informed decisions about their RV maintenance needs.
